Amelia is a writer and filmmaker based in New York City. Her films have received critical acclaim from several festivals, including the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY), the Women’s Independent Film Festival in Hollywood, the Montclair Film Festival, and NewFilmmakers New York, The Big Apple Film Festival, and The Hamptons Comedy Film Festival.
Amelia graduated with a master’s degree in Humanities from The University of Chicago, where she wrote a complete original television pilot and accompanying critical analysis for her thesis. Most recently, Amelia received her MFA in Television Writing at Stony Brook University, where she wrote three original television pilots. Her thesis advisor was award winning filmmaker and writer Sydney Sidner and her second reader was critically acclaimed writer/director/producer Jamie Babbit (But I’m a Cheerleader, Russian Doll, Gilmore Girls, Only Murders in the Building). Additionally, Amelia is an experienced educator, having taught a range of humanities subjects across middle school, high school, and undergraduate levels.
When she’s not writing, Amelia is either playing tennis, playing the drums, or picking up another spatially or sonorously difficult hobby to practice in New York City.
